Chief Executive Officer
As the Founder and CEO of Bitfocus, I drive the company mission to develop user-centric technology solutions and professional services that aid in this nation’s efforts for positive social change. I’ve spent over 20 years in the field of software engineering, 16 of which have been devoted to the design of human services data systems and professional services. In 2003, I founded Bitfocus as an HMIS System Administration firm. However, the bleak options for human services software drove me to build our software product, Clarity Human Services, from the bottom up. We applied our HMIS System Administration background to painstakingly create the first version, screen by screen, continuously refining it to be the sophisticated, powerful industry front-runner it is today. As a result of my blend of technical and practical experience, I’ve been able to build a company that brings ideas, technology, and services together to help communities build more collaborative, effective, and efficient systems of care. Just like me, Bitfocus embraces innovation, and we welcome any chance to use our creativity, expertise, and talent to provide the types of solutions no other software firm can. In addition, my experience has also taught me a lot. And as a result, I believe my professional contributions boil down to three things, and in turn, these three principles also guide Bitfocus staff: 1. We have big ideas. This is great, but furthermore, we know how to turn ideas into action and guide these actions into reality. 2. We run toward problems, fire extinguisher in hand. Software is meant to solve problems, so we attack any boots-on-the-ground challenges that my customers encounter. 3. We keep a cool head. Kindness and integrity—toward both customers and colleagues alike—is what matters most to us. After all, when it comes down to it, business is about people. Heart, grit, and tears went into the development of this company, and I couldn’t be more satisfied with the great team we’ve built over the years. Looking toward the future, we are building the foundation to revolutionize the way data informs social services. Collectively, we will continue to create tools that advance solutions to our greatest social challenges.
Act as if what you do makes a difference. It does.
